As school board workers, we understand how important our jobs are for the education of the youth of our province. As union members, we can now stand together, strong in the face of a turbulent economic landscape. We have spent decades pushing for our rights, often with no relief. Violence in the workplace in particular has been a big problem for a long time. Coupled with staffing shortages, attrition, and burnout, things are only getting harder.
Education workers are essential in our province’s present and future success. We help guide young people towards fulfilling careers in all sectors, and help them explore their creativity, social skills, and intellectual pursuits. We make sure schools are clean, safe, and well organized. And we want nothing more than to improve on what we currently have.
We are proud of our work, and know how to do it well. With proper union structures in place, high membership engagement, and effective leadership, we can forge a strong collective agreement to carry us through the next several years.
